World Mental Health Day & International Day of the Girl Child

Students can be significantly influenced by the life lessons they can learn from a well-run assembly. With all those bright young faces looking up at you, how can you not take advantage of a prime opportunity to teach lessons in diversity, accountability, leadership, and responsibility?

“Maintaining a good mental health as well as learning about the rights of a Girl child since birth is the need of the hour”. So, the students of class 7th B got the privilege to conduct a special assembly on this “World Mental Health Day” and “International Day of the Girl Child”, through which they tried to spread awareness and sensitize everyone to be a responsible person of the society.

World Mental Health Day as well the day of the Girl child is not simply a one-day event. So, there was the need to start even before the day and continue the call to ensure that no-one is left behind. A great opportunity is provided to focus on the call for greater investment in mental health for all as we lead up to 10th October. Students started the awareness campaign a week prior to the day of assembly by a tweet each day on both the topics. Students worked whole heartedly for spreading their words to the community by writing the quotes, making the posters, they shot the videos with the beautiful messages.

This year, under the theme, “My Voice, Our Equal Future” given by UN , students seize the opportunity to be inspired by what adolescent girls see as the change they want, the solutions- big and small- they are leading and demanding across the globe, so to have a deeper understanding about these issues, so to share some experience and views a special guest was called for the assembly Ms Ridhima Sharma who is a teacher by profession and an NGO worker by passion.

Mental health is a human right – it is time that mental health is available for all. Quality, accessible primary health care is the foundation for universal health coverage and is urgently required as the world grapples with the current health emergency. In regard to this a special guest Dr. Mahendra Lal Bishnoi (f/o Ananya Bishnoi) managed to spare some time to share some useful tips to maintain a good mental wellbeing.

The assembly also included a talk show in which students beautifully enacted themselves as the social workers – Dr. Harshinder Kaur and Ms. Swati Maliwal and shared their life journey and special achievements which motivated the students and the teachers to be a responsible worker of the society.

This act of awareness campaign and the special assembly ignited a spark about taking care of our mental health and motivated us to work as active members of the society now and in future too.

Our esteemed Principal Sir Mr. Sanjay Yadav and beloved HM Ms. Sunita Rajiv Ma’am graced the occasion and praised the efforts of the students.
