Mission Paani-An initiative by Harpic – News18
Network 18 and Reckitt Benckiser’s have embarked on a Nationwide Water Conservation Campaign – Harpic Network 18 MISSION PAANI. Mission Paani is an initiative for saving water and sustaining it for the generations to come. It has aimed to urge all, to change the casual attitude towards water consumption. Inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal during his Independence Day address to come together for the critical cause of water conservation with ‘Jal Andolan’, the mission became a mass movement when the entire nation joined hands.
‘Mission Paani’ became a mega drive in Ahlcon International School as well when the appeal to join the mission was made by Director Dr. Ashok Kumar Pandey and Principal Mr Sanjay Yadav. They urged the Ahlconites, to lead from forward and raise awareness against the depletion of water resources in the country and also make efforts to ensure clean and proportionate water; for drinking and other essential purposes, is made available to all. To inspire citizens, especially school children, the custodians of our future, to take a ‘Jal Pratigya’ and become ‘Jal Rakshaks’ various activities were held in Ahlcon International School. The students participated in the campaign by observing Jal Pratigya Diwas on 18th November 2020. Students instantly joined hands and tried to spread their verdict through videos making appeals to the entire nation. Across all the sections – Primary Section, Middle Section and Senior section informative assemblies were conducted eliciting the importance of water and its management, ways to conserving it and sharing tips to make all water-wise. They also spoke about the dangerous pace at which the country is losing its life-saving resources. They highlighted that the misuse of ground water is a challenge, but not replenishing it is a bigger problem. Hence the needs to bring in a lot of technology like geo-tagging and geo-fencing to improve the overall condition of water resources. Students also took the pledge- the Jal Pratigya. To mark the Jal Pratigya Diwas, online Jal Pratigya Pledge was also taken. All received certificates certifying each a ‘Water Warrior’, a testimony to our resolutions taken.
These programs were witnessed by parents as they were virtually done and parents too solemnly pledged to be actively involved in the drive and spread it further too. The efforts of students were highly praised and acknowledged by all the section heads – HM senior school – Mr Puneet Duggal, HM middle section – Ms Sunita Rajiv, HM primary section – Ms Anju Gupta who all had spearheaded the entire campaign. The water scarcity is not just a crisis, it is a national calamity. The time to act is now if we want a chance at a better future and make Mission Paani the biggest national effort to make water conservation a community-driven movement. Children are the biggest agent of change. And they have to be at the forefront of a mass movement like mission Paani.
