Annual Sports Day –‘आरोग्यम – ओजस जीवन का’ Saturday, 10th December 2022
As rightly said by Buddha “To keep the body in good health is a duty… otherwise we shall not be able to keep our mind strong and clear.”
Amidst great mirth, verve, and camaraderie-The Primary section of Ahlcon International School celebrated Annual Sports Day – A magnificent sports extravaganza “आरोग्यम–ओजस जीवन का” on Saturday, 10thDecember 2022 at the grounds of Ahlcon Public School.
The school’s playground was overflowing with zeal, passion, and excitement. Bright clear and sunny skies ushered in the most awaited event.The Annual Sports Day embodies the zeal, talents, and spirit of sportsmanship of the students encouraging them to be persistent and to refine their talents achieving the greatest of the heights.
The most anticipated event of the year commenced with the arrival of the highly distinguished Chief Guest Ms. Pinky Singh, an Internationally acclaimed Indian Lawn Bowl player, Guest of Honour- Dr. Puja Dudeja, Professor at AFMC, Mr. Rajkumar Sharma, the former Delhi Ranjit Trophy Cricketer, and the coach of cricketer like Virat Kohli, ChairpersonDr. Rohini Ahluwalia, Principal AIS, Mr. Sanjay Yadav; Principal APS, Dr. Deepak Raj Singh Bisht, PTA members, other eminent dignitaries and all the section heads of both the school. The guests were welcomed with planters and memento.The Chief Guest declared the meet open amidst loud cheers from the spectators.
The heart of the Annual Sports Day as usual was the March Past. A riveting march past by the disciplined sportspersons of the school displaying bold-hued attire marked the commencement of the event. The students of class 5 showcased the discipline and team spirit when they marched with their chin up and chest high. The synchronized swing of arms and the sound of the thudding feet was a feast to eyes and ears. The sense of dignity and pride with which the contingents march coupled with stirring marching music played by school Band was a pleasure to watch.
All the 4 houses of the school took oath to participate in games and sports in true sportsman spirit and work for the nation building practices. After the March Past, all the Sportsachievers of the Primary Section took part in Torch Relay. The torch lighting is not just a formality; it stands for the fire of each participant’s will- the will to strive, the will to win.
The Ahlconites mesmerized everyone with their musical rendition of school song एहलकॉन इंटरनेशनल स्कूल हमारा है which is very close to their hearts. Every word showed their commitment, love and respect for their institution. This song motivates our students to become a responsible global citizen by doing their best.
A robust mind and a lively body are the fundamental requirements to live a long and happy life. With this message in mind, the PT display of different Classes aimed to enlighten the audience with the merits of living a fit and healthy life,
It is a popular saying “Healthy mind lives in a healthy body”.The kids of Class-1 presented an energetic Prop Drill- ‘Hum Fit Toh India Fit’ and delighted our senses with the P.T. Display promoting the initiative of ‘Khelo India’.
‘Be Active – Be Healthy, Be Happy’, keeping this in mind the students of Class-2 performed the ‘Fitness Fiesta-Aerobics’. They exuberantly showed their rhythmic P.T. along with their dancing skills. They showed that we don’t have to walk miles to gain a fit body even if we shake a leg, that does the needful.
“If you believe it, the mind can achieve it”; with this motto in mind students of Class- 3 came up with an enthusiastic Mass PT in a synchronous way and used ribbons as props to give a new twist to PT.
“Yoga is the best way to improve the concentration of the mind, to make one live in peace, to focus in life, to make a man, a gentleman.” therefore the students of class -4 came up with their Yoga display. The theme was “Yoga-The Path to Inner Bliss”. Yoga combines physical exercises, mental meditation and breathing techniques to strengthen the muscles.
To harness the potential of students and praise their efforts in track and field, flat and creative races were held for classes 1 to 5.Chief Guest and other eminent dignitaries were invited to give away the prizes and felicitate the rightful winners with medals and certificates.
The overall House Trophy was awarded to Prithvi House for showing throughout the year remarkable performance.
On this occasion, the Chief Guest Ms Pinky Singh appreciated the joy and efforts showcased by the students during the preparation of the event and elaborated upon the importance of sports and extracurricular activities in the lives of students as they embark on their path to holistic development. “If there is one field of life which teaches us the most valuable lessons about perseverance, patience in fact what constitutes a perfect character, it is sports”.
Guest of Honour, Mr Raj Kumar Sharma gave a motivational speech, in which he advised everyone to participate in the field of sports and told many benefits of doing sports activities.
Guest of Honour, Col. Puja Dudeja motivated students to imbibe qualities of discipline, sportsmanship spirit and to never be disappointed by failure in life.
Chairperson Dr. Rohini Ahluwalia also addressed the parents and urged them to make sports an integral part of their life. She appreciated the efforts of Children and the teachers.
The Principal addressed the gathering and motivated the students to perform their level best. He requested teachers and students to spend at least 15 minutes in a day to exercise and sweat to lead a healthy life.
In the end all the dignitaries released the school banner and balloons to give wings to sportsman spirit. The entire programme was compered by the students under the guidance of their teachers very well.
The heartfelt Vote of Thanks was proposed by the Headmistress Ms Kavita Shah. The whole gathering with immense pride sung the National Anthem and marked the splendorous end of the day.
The zealous parents, gathered in large numbers, constantly applauded the participants of the field track displays. Students mesmerized the audience with their energetic performances. The proud parents could be seen filled with happiness to see their child performing.
It was a day filled with fervor and excitement, experienced amidst thrills, shrills, and cheers. Everyone acknowledged, appreciated, and applauded the efforts of the school for putting up such a mega event successfully
