The students of Class XI C at Ahlcon International School organized a special assembly on 3rd May 2023 to celebrate ‘World Press Freedom Day and World Laughter Day.’

World Press Freedom Day is celebrated on 3rd May every year to raise awareness about the importance of press freedom and to remind governments about their duty to respect and uphold the right to freedom of expression. The day was proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly in 1993 following a recommendation from UNESCO’s General Conference. World Laughter Day, on the other hand, is celebrated on the first Sunday of May each year. It aims to promote the positive benefits of laughter and its ability to bring people together, break down barriers, and reduce stress.

The event began with the customary thought of the day, which emphasized the importance of free speech and the role of the press in promoting democracy. Next up were the current news headlines, throwing light on the international, national, and campus happenings.

The speeches on Press Freedom Day emphasized the importance of a free press in holding governments and other powerful institutions accountable. The assembly also included a video on Laughter Day aimed at the benefits of laughter, such as reducing stress, improving immune function, and promoting social bonding.

The musical rendition was the highlight of the assembly, as the students presented a medley of songs that celebrated the theme of the day. The music was well-rehearsed and added a lively and festive atmosphere to the event.

In conclusion, the assembly organized by the students of Class XI C at Ahlcon International School was a great success. The Principal and The Vice- Principal appreciated initiatives and creativity of the students.
