REPORT ON MATHS FIESTA,2022

Maths fiesta, 2022-23 marks the celebration of Mathematics and the competitive spirit of logic and creativity unveiling the combination of geometry and SDGs. 3 Nov,2022 was a bagless day beginning with Mandal art, Warli art and best out of waste lessons to Quantum Test to subject enrichment activity and competitions.

In “My fruit/vegetable Mandala” Competition, the students designed a Fruit Salad/ Vegetable salad in the form of a Mandal. This competition aimed at team building skills as the students worked in a group of 4 or 5 together. The whole class VI was converted to mini kitchens serving Mathematical fruit salad with a pinch of sweet taste to salty to lemony. The team efforts of little chefs made no stone unturned to enhance the décor of the classrooms with perfectly laid tables with cutlery and plates to welcome the guests. Was it a classroom or it is a home environment, or it was a restaurant with healthy food nurturing SDG 3. They created a poster in which it was explained how healthy mandal plate was linked with Practical Geometry.

Happiness doesn’t result from what we get, but from what we give. The students designed “My Warli Souvenir” gifted a Souvenir to their friend/parent as their token of care and affection and linked Warli Art with Congruence of Triangles. Young Mathematicians painted Warli art on Jute Bags/ Paper Bags in perfect symmetrical patterns with vibrant colours.

In “Trash to MathsArt” Competition, the students created a cycle, a few garlic bulbs, a water recycler to water the plants, wall hangings using 3 D shapes, a paper doll made of used newspaper, a pen stand using waste cartons, newspapers, magazines, buttons, bangles, plastic bottles, wool, ice-cream sticks, CDs, broken jewellery or ceramic items, old wire frames, toy parts, etc. SDG 12 Responsible consumption and production is practiced by the Ahlconites by recycling and reusing trash and devising ideas for sustainable surroundings linking Maths art through visualizing shapes.

Quantum test aimed to find the Mathematical brains who are logical, accurate and quick in Arithmetic and algebra.

Maths Fiesta felicitation ceremony was held on 7 Nov 2022 along with Mathomania Quiz, an Inter house Mathematics competition.
