World’s Largest Climate Clock Assembly and Display’ Event – Report

On April 22, 2023, Ahlcon International School participated in the ‘World’s Largest Climate Clock Assembly and Display Event,’ which took place at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in New Delhi, India, on the occasion of Earth Day. The event was attended by students from classes VI to XII, accompanied by Ms. Seema Jaiswal (Middle Stage) and Ms. Navleen Chopra (Senior Stage).
The event was organized by the Energy Swaraj Foundation in collaboration with Atal Innovation Mission – Niti Aayog and the All India Council for Technical Education to raise awareness about the urgency of addressing climate change and its impacts on the planet. It emphasized the need for immediate action to mitigate the effects of climate change and urged attendees to take action for climate correction and create a better world for themselves and future generations.
The highlight of the event was the assembly of a climate clock using a simple climate clock kit provided by the foundation. The digital clocks were ticking simultaneously, showing a figure of six years, 30 days, and just over 22 hours before the planet reaches the 1.5°C threshold based on current emission projections for global warming. The event made history and successfully attempted to break a world record. Many organizations, institutions, and individuals took part in this mega event. Students were awarded certificates of appreciation for their enthusiastic participation.
The event brought together a diverse range of stakeholders to raise awareness about the need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and mitigate the impacts of climate change. It was a significant step towards mobilizing people worldwide to take action on climate change and build a sustainable future.
The Principal, Mr. Sanjay Yadav, Vice Principal, Mr. Puneet Duggal, and Ms. Sunanda S Kumar played a crucial role in leading initiatives that promote environmental sustainability and encouraging student involvement in such activities. The school is setting an excellent example of responsible leadership. By engaging students in such events and activities, the school is preparing them to become responsible and environmentally conscious citizens of the future.
