REPORT ON CHARCHA ON PARENTING

‘It is the sunlight of parental love and encouragement that enables a child to bloom life a precious flower.’

This well-known fact laid the foundation for spreading awareness about the correct and the most appropriate ways of enhancing this sunlight. So, on 23rd April 2022, Ahlcon International school welcomed Mr. Sivaram Raghavan for a brilliant session ‘ Characha on Parenting’.

Mr. Raghavan heightened that parenting is a universal and all-season job that demands a world of energy and patience. He further put emphases that kids are the biggest observers and one must possess great panache to master this art to create a proper balance at home, with family, and with kids.  How do you introduce “No” into the minds of children from both parents and grandparents? When to say “No” is an Entitlement Entity. Parents must deal with their children tactfully and be firm as well as polite. What practices a parent must follow so that the child does not indulge in bad behavior? A parent must show respect to his/her parents and treat them with love and affection. Since children are observant by nature, they learn and imbibe good/bad habits or behavior from their parents. The value system is developed at home with 3 Cs- they are Care, Caution, and Courage.

The parent of Ronak Jain, Ms. Priya Jain discussed the importance of grandparents imbibing values and cooking together with children. She talked further that this will bring a feeling of belongingness among children and would generate interest to eat food that they otherwise do not like.

Mr. Sivaram also mentioned that it is good to talk about your failures with your kids. It is good to be friendly with your kids, but you must not become a friend. You must set a tone that the child trusts you and opens up but remember where to draw a line.

Mr. Sanjay Yadav -Principal of Ahlcon International School, shared a few guiding principles of life to walk on this difficult road of being a parent. Sir, appreciated the efforts put in by Mr. Sivaram. In his new book “STOP, LOOK, GO Parenting the changing norms, then and now”.

HM- Middle, HM- Senior, HM- Primary, and HM- Pre-Primary gave a patient hearing and found this session indeed relatable in today’s ever-changing world.
