Road Safety ASL Activity Report

‘In an effective classroom, students should not only know what they are doing. They should also know why and how.’ Ahlcon International School, Mayur Vihar, focuses on holistic development of students. Teachers provide feedbacks every now and then so students can become more innovative. In the month of February 2021, our school came to the fore in collaboration with CBSE, to raise awareness among students. ‘Road Safety Month’ was observed on the theme ‘Sadak Suraksha, Jeevan Raksha’.

In order to conduct some online events, ‘English Assessment of Speaking and Listening’ (ASL) activities were designed in middle section for classes VI to VIII. Some videos were shown in the morning assembly as resource material. Students did extensive researches before conducting their given activities.

Class VI were given a task to create Jingles/Raps/Songs on the given topic. They were grouped together in number of five members each. They were asked to write self-composed Jingles/Raps/Songs on A4 size sheet and decorate it. The next step was to recite it in the class. The performances were astounded and stupefied the way they created and presented their work.

Class VII were given a task to create ‘Posters’ with slogans on the given topic. They were grouped together in number of five members each. The next step was to present it in the class. The performances startled the teachers the way students created and presented their work. They created videos and collages for exhibiting their work.

Class VIII were given a task to create ‘PowerPoint Presentation on Road Signs and Safety Rules followed by Quiz’ on the given topic. They were grouped together in number of five members each. The next step was to present it in the class. The performances astonished the teachers the way students created and presented their work. Before conducting quiz with other class mates, they explained about ‘Road Safety’ by PowerPoint Presentations and self-created videos and to reiterate, some used different online tools as well like Kahoot, Quizizz, etc. to conduct quiz.
