Ms. Preety Shah of Foundation Stage attended the day-long CBSE training session on ‘Happy Classroom’ conducted on Wednesday, 16 August 2023 at CBSE regional office, Patparganj, New Delhi.

 

The workshop helped the teachers understand how a happy environment can give a joyful learning experience and can make studies more captivating for students. The eminent speaker Ms. Bhawika Mittal, Principal of Lovely Public School, Priyadarshini Vihar, Delhi shared her observations and experiences on some of the main ways in which happy learning can be done.

 

She emphasized that happy teachers create a happy classroom. She reiterated that a teacher needs to introspect and adopt various creative techniques while dealing with students who create behavior issues in the classroom. She pointed out various reasons for misconduct in the students and also discussed a few measures that can be adopted to rectify them.

 

The workshop also focused on understanding Emotional Intelligence & behavior analysis, ways to foster happiness in the classrooms, and adopting the storytelling approach.

 

The resource person also talked about pathways to reach happiness like forgiveness, optimism, empathy, rational thoughts, gratitude, etc. She said that every teacher should ensure that praising and appreciating students for even their smallest of achievements can work as a catalyst in boosting the morale of a child. To achieve this a teacher should have self-awareness, self-management, self-motivation, relationship management, and social awareness. She discussed various abbreviations like S.T.O.P. (stop, take a deep breath, observe, pullback, practice, and proceed), P.L.E.A.S.E(treat physical illness, eat healthily, avoid mood-altering drugs, sleep well, exercise) and importance of each. Ways of fostering happiness in classrooms with mindfulness, learning new things each day, and developing a positive education program for learners.

 

The workshop concluded with a note that having positive relationships with peers and adults within the school can create a healthy learning environment. Happy classrooms only can help children to manage and overcome their fears, worries, and limiting beliefs. It was a fun-filled and enriching session for creating Happy Classrooms.
