As a part of the Indo-Danish Program, the much-awaited Danish group of fifteen students with Program Coordinator, Katrine Brøndsted and Marie Eiland arrived at Ahlcon International School, Mayur Vihar, Delhi on 17th Oct 2023 from Køge Gymnasium, Denmark. They were accorded a warm welcome by the Principal, Mr. Sanjay Yadav, Vice-Principal, Mr. Puneet Duggal, and Head of Secondary Stage, Dr. Ekta Kandhari Ratra, teachers, and their host families. The Danish students and teachers were introduced to the festivities happening around that time as they attended a mesmerizing special assembly on the major Hindu festivals of Dusshera and Navratris. Activity classes on Sculpture, Tabla, and Dance were really appreciated and enjoyed. They also attended a class on Literature in which students were introduced to Amrita Pritam, a Punjabi writer, whose short story, ‘The Wild Flower’ was analyzed. They also attended a Hindi class in which they were acquainted with words of common usage. In the Biology class, they extracted the DNA structure as a part of the SDG Goals Project Work. Field trips to historical places like Old Delhi, Humayun’s Tomb, Qutub Minar, and modern bazaars like Dilli Haat, Hauz Kaus, and Khan Market were enjoyed by our guests, complete with shopping extravaganza. A three-day educational excursion to Jaipur and Agra was a captivating journey through India’s rich cultural and architectural heritage sites. The host families left no stone unturned to make this time the best time of their lives. They took their guests to Akshardham temple for a light and sound show. They also took them to the Dandiya festival. As the time ended, heartfelt goodbyes were exchanged, marking the unforgettable conclusion of their time together. And so, with sincere promises, the Danish students departed for their accommodation at the exquisite Lalit Hotel where late at night, they embarked on the return journey to their homeland.
Overall, it was such a magical time of being together, connecting, and creating bonds that last a lifetime.
