Science Fiesta- Igniting Minds, Sustaining Futures

Ahlcon International School organized a vibrant and educational Science-Fiesta on 30^th and 31^st October 2023. The event was celebrated pan school.

The objectives of the event were to:

1. promote creativity through innovative activities.
2. arouse environmental consciousness in students.
3. and celebrating Diwali in a sustainable manner.

The event featured a variety of activities for the students of Classes VI to VIII. That include designing paper lamps, designing art with leaves and flowers, creating e-waste jewellery, and bookmarks based on contribution of Indian scientist, designing poster on adolescent problems and participating in a campus clean-up drive.

Activities:

1.Designing Paper Lamps and nature art. Students of all class VI participated in a paper lamp designing activity, showcasing their artistic and scientific skills. The activity encouraged them to learn about the principles of light and shadow, as well as the environmental benefits of using paper-based decorations. The colourful and intricate paper lamps added a festive touch to the school’s atmosphere. The art with flowers helped them cherish nature.

2.Class VII participated in E-Waste Jewellery and celebrating the Indian scientist Making: In an effort to raise awareness about the importance of recycling and reducing electronic waste, students learned how to dismantle and repurpose old electronic components to create unique and eco-friendly jewellery items. This activity fostered a sense of responsibility towards the environment and innovative thinking. They also reflected on the great contribution of Indian scientists.

3.Class VIII made posters on adolescent problems, designed costumes using a variety of fabrics and also did Campus Clean-up for Diwali: The school took a proactive approach to celebrate Diwali by organizing a campus clean-up drive. Students, and teachers, came together to clean up the school premises, including classrooms, gardens, and common areas. This initiative aimed to highlight the significance of a clean and pollution-free environment during the festival of lights.

Educational Significance: The Science Fiesta was not only a celebration of Diwali but also an opportunity to impart valuable lessons to the students. It reinforced the importance of:

• Sustainability: By creating paper lamps and e-waste jewellery, students learned about eco-friendly alternatives to traditional decorations and the importance of responsible consumption and recycling.
• Environmental Responsibility: The campus clean-up drive instilled a sense of responsibility among students towards maintaining a clean and green environment.
