The objective was to enhance students’ creativity and critical thinking skills and to promote interdisciplinary learning and collaboration. Students were explained the relationship between the haiku poems and the surface area and volume problems . This interdisciplinary activity was a great way for students to learn about the concepts of surface area and volume in a creative and engaging way. It also highlighted the interplay between language and mathematics. Students were engaged in a creative process that involved translating mathematical concepts into poetic expressions, demonstrating the interconnectedness of different disciplines. This activity promoted holistic learning by engaging students’ cognitive, creative, and analytical skills. They simultaneously understood mathematical concepts, applied them to solve problems, and then translated those solutions into poetic language. This process fostered a deeper understanding of both mathematics and English, encouraging students to view knowledge as interconnected and applicable to various aspects of life.
This activity aligns with SDG 4 by providing students with quality education. It also aligns with SDG 12 by teaching students about the importance of responsible consumption and production. Additionally, the activity aligns with NEP 2023 by promoting curricular integration, experiential learning, and holistic development.
