Lung Care Foundation Awareness Session

A special health awareness session was organized on Tuesday, 8th April 2025 at Ahlcon International School by the Lung Care Foundation, focusing on the importance of lung health, air pollution, and the spirometry screening process. The session was attended by students of Classes 8 and 11, along with esteemed guests, faculty members, and the school leadership.

The objectives of the Session were to-

– Raise awareness about the importance of lung health and the growing impact of air pollution on students’ well-being.

– Introduce students to spirometry testing as an important tool for evaluating lung function and encouraging early diagnosis of potential respiratory issues.

The program began with a warm welcome of the distinguished medical professionals who led the day’s session. The key speakers for the session included Dr. Rachita Chopra, a reputed chest surgeon from Medanta – The Medicity, Gurugram; Dr. Megha Wazir, Deputy Manager at Lung Care Foundation; and Dr. Rahul Siddhartha, a general surgeon, who elaborated on the harmful impact of air pollution on lung health, especially among children in Delhi-NCR.

The session introduced students to the spirometry screening process, a simple, non-invasive test used to measure lung function. This screening aims to detect early signs of respiratory issues, ensuring timely intervention and management.

Headmistress Ms. Sunanda S. Kumar addressed the gathering and emphasized the need for proactive healthcare and awareness in schools. Her words encouraged students to be more mindful of their health and the environment.
