Grandparents Day

“Nobody can do for little children what grandparents do. Grandparents sort of sprinkle stardust over the lives of little children”

Grandparents are the family’s greatest treasure, founders of a loving legacy, wonderful storytellers, and the curators of family tradition. They are the strong foundation who have a unique connection and a special bond with their grandchildren.

To commemorate UN designated International Day of Older Persons and to express love and pay respect towards the elderly, Nursery Department of Ahlcon International School celebrated Virtual Grandparents Day on Saturday, 3rd October 2020. This years’ celebrations were even more special as it was for the first time when three generations of a family came together to celebrate the enchanting moments on a virtual platform.

The celebration began with Ganesh Stuti, where they seeked blessings of the Almighty. Children enacted on a song which was beautifully stringed together by their class teachers. It was an incredible moment for them to witness the synchronization of talent and tradition by their Grandchildren. Grandparents relived their childhood and participated wholeheartedly in the online games and quizzes especially designed and thoughtfully planned by the teachers. The icing on the cake was the special enactments by the grandparents with their grandchildren. Entries like story narration, dance performances, soulful melodies strengthened the special bond between them and left the audience mesmerized. Children made beautiful souvenirs for their precious stalwarts and presented them as a token of love and affection. The success of the event was evident through the joyful smiles and teary eyes of the grandparents as they were overwhelmed to see a video compilation of all the memorable moments spent with their grandchildren. Their hearts were filled with joy when they heard their children speak touching lines for them.

Director, Dr. Ashok Kumar Pandey thanked grandparents for being the pillar of strength and support of the family and for showering their unconditional love and guidance to the grandchildren. Principal, Mr. Sanjay Yadav, Headmistress, Ms. Anju Gupta and Assistant Headmistress, Ms. Pooja Shandilya addressed the grandparents and applauded the students for putting up a scintillating performance for their grandparents.

At the end, a vote of thanks was proposed by the class teachers. The grandparents and the parents hugely appreciated the unique initiative taken by the school management and staff. They were full of appreciation and gave heaps of blessings to the school and its faculty members by posting messages on the padlet wall created by the class teachers for putting up a grand show.
