Orientation- New Nursery 2023-24

“Education is a shared commitment between dedicated teachers, motivated students and energetic parents. The home is a child’s first school and the parent his first teacher.” – Bob Beauprez

A parent is a teacher at home and a teacher is a parent in school with the child being the centre of our universe. The young mind is flexible, and sensitive and is influenced and shaped by events in the outside world. Most of what children learn are acquired by exploring, playing with and observing the relationship between objects. As we ushered into the New Academic year, the School Management and the teachers hosted an Orientation Programme for not only our New Nursery students but also for those students who transitioned to the next level of education. The Nursery Orientation Programme was held in the school auditorium on Saturday, 1st April 2023 whereas, for Class Prep, Class 1 and Class 2 the Orientation Programme was conducted on Saturday, 8th April 2023 in a Hybrid mode.

The programme typically included a combination of a virtual and in-person meetings to ensure that the academic year ahead is enriching and accomplishing for not only our students but also for their parents. The Prep parents were introduced to the learning processes and strategies in their respective prep classrooms while Classes 1 and 2 were briefed about the school’s policy, methodologies and curriculum through a virtual mode.

The orientation programme was an opportunity for the parents to know about the activities of the school and also to create a bond with the teachers as the school is a home away from home for their wards. The aim was to familiarize the parents as ‘Partners in Progress’ with the vision, mission and ethos of the School which includes its curriculum, rules and regulations of the school, safety measures, teaching pedagogies and co-scholastic activities.

The Nursery Orientation Programme commenced with a warm welcome to the parents in the school auditorium followed by invoking the almighty with a Prayer Song by the teachers of the Pre-Primary Section.

The New Nursery Teachers were introduced to their respective groups of parents by the HM – Foundation Stage, Ms Pooja Shandilya. She also gave guidelines about effective parenting and suggested different measures to nurture a child with love and care to build a strong foundation for a glorious future.

There were different spokespersons who briefed the parents about the new and past innovative activities, and methodologies and shared glimpses through a Presentation.

Principal, Mr Sanjay Yadav welcomed the parents and emphasised that parents and the school must necessarily act as partners and collaborate in the best interest of the children. He guided the parents on how to nurture their children by not only focusing on academics but also on learning important skills to succeed in life and providing a good value system for them. The collaborative effort of the school and home, parents, and teachers will definitely help the child in becoming a confident, responsible global citizen.

The Nursery Orientation Programme ended with the parents meeting their child’s class teacher, and clearing doubts and queries over a cup of tea. This meeting with the parents bought a comfort level and deeper understanding of the working of the school. The interactive session proved to be very useful.

Overall, the orientation programme at Foundation Stage was an important element in ensuring that the academic journey ahead is supportive, holistic and nurturing for all its students. It also provided parents with the necessary information and guidelines they need for their children to thrive in the new academic session to build a strong foundation for their overall success and developmental stories to add to their learning experience.
