World Earth Day Celebration
‘Teach children to love and respect the Earth and all its creatures. After all, they will inherit it one day.’
World Earth Day is a global event celebrated every year on April 22nd to raise awareness and promote action towards environmental sustainability. To mark this occasion, the Foundation Stage of Ahlcon International School organized an array of activities to not only educate young children but also to inspire them to contribute their bit in taking care of our planet Earth.
On Thursday, 20th April 23 students of Class II -A presented a Special Assembly based on the theme ‘Earth Day’. Young stewards of class 2 highlighted and spoke on the importance of the day. The assembly further continued with a video presentation and poem recitation on ‘Mother Earth’. Children participated enthusiastically and displayed different ways to save Mother Earth and make it clean and green.
The Earth Day Celebration featured a variety of activities and performances that were spread across the entire week. Each activity highlighted different aspects of environmental sustainability.
Students of Nursery and Prep performed craft activities based on saving water, tearing and pasting on a cutout of a tree, using recycled items to reiterate the three Rs (reduce, recycle, and reuse). They also planted seeds in the old bottles and promised to take care of these saplings. Children were taken for a nature walk in the school where they not only observed plants but also appreciated their natural surroundings. They were explained how certain human actions can largely impact the environment. Hence it is even more important that we act wisely towards environmental sustainability to create a more sustainable future.
Art activities such as drawing, painting were few of the creative ways that taught children about the significance of Earth Day. Children drew, painted pictures of nature, wildlife, and other environmental themes, and proudly displayed the significance of their artwork.
The enthusiastic learners of Class I and II enjoyed different activities based on the theme Mother Earth. Little Saviors of Class I conducted Plantation Drive and planted saplings to affirm their commitment to Mother Earth. Students of Class II also participated exuberantly in-class activities related to Earth Day and created innovative and beautiful crafts to spread the message of preserving our natural resources.
These activities helped students develop a deeper appreciation and understanding of nature and the environment, and encouraged them to take action to protect the planet’s biodiversity.
Earth Day Celebration was an inspiring event that not only raised awareness among children about the environment they live in but also encouraged them to take action towards protecting their planet. It was a great opportunity for students to learn about the importance of environmental conservation and to take responsibility for their impact on the planet.
Principal Mr. Sanjay Yadav congratulated children for their creative artworks and the wonderful assembly they presented. He also encouraged students to adopt sustainable practices that can help reduce their carbon footprint on Earth.
Vice Principal, Mr. Puneet Duggal also applauded teachers and students for their amazing work and for highlighting these environmental issues, such as air pollution, water pollution, deforestation, and climate change, and propose the effective solutions.
Headmistress, Ms. Pooja Shandilya also encouraged students to continue working for the protection of the planet and take a sense of responsibility in bringing a positive difference in the world.
