Climate Reality Session Report
On Monday, 28th June and 5th July 2021, HM Middle Section, Ms. Sunita Rajiv of Ahlcon International School took brilliant sessions on ‘Climate Reality Action’ for grade seven students of the middle section. She has been an adherent of ‘Sustainable Development Goals’ from a long time and a staunch Climate Reality Leader who has been working for climate education in schools. She believes that to guide students is a key to create a sustainable world around us and an excellent way to protect resources for future.
As amid the COVID-19 pandemic, schools are going online, it’s a duty of a school to create awareness among students about reality of the environment around the globe. Students were told about the environment crisis going on in the world like Global Warming, Wildfires, Pollution, Deforestation, Ozone Depletion, Loss of Biodiversity, etc.
Besides, students were told the solutions, exactly while remaining in home in this unprecedented time, how they can contribute to save the mother earth. Following are some solutions: –
- Zero Waste-While going out take cloth bags instead of plastic bags, so that we can contribute less to landfills.
- Save Electricity– Unplug the charger or related equipment while not in use. Second, the refrigerator and oven should not be kept close by as it consumes more energy to keep itself cool.
- Save Water-Close the running taps when not in use.
It’s a fact that children always learn by observing their elders, but not what they are told. With these time-to-time sessions, we let them know how important this is for us and at the same time we care for their health, their future and for many generations to come. It’s a legacy that they need to carry further and always keep protecting mother earth from all odds.
‘Every single person on this earth has the power to change the world’- with this message HM Middle Section, Ms. Sunita Rajiv concluded the session.
