CBSE organised a day long workshop on ‘Gender Equality’ at Plot number PS 1,2, Institutional area, I.P Extension on Tuesday, 25th July 2023. The workshop was organised to sensitise the educators regarding the issues of gender equality in schools.

Mrs. Vijay Lakshmi Singh and Dr. Nishi were the Resource Persons of the workshop. Two teachers from the Foundational Stage of Ahlcon International School, Ms. Hema Bhargava and Ms.Vandana Dua attended the session. The workshop was allocated into two major segments; the First session focussed on making educators aware of the various kinds of gender issues prevalent in the education sector. The resource person discussed about various attributes of boys and girls, stereo type notions associated with both boys and girls. The Second part of the session highlighted the Gender Sensitivity being practiced in the school these days. It also explained in detail about the difference between Gender and Sex, and what makes a school gender sensitive, what is the role of school management and teachers in handling and stopping it from being practiced. A few case studies from different schools were also discussed.

The session was later concluded with a presentation given by each group of teachers on a situation depicting gender inequalities present in schools.

Overall, the workshop was very informative and gave a lot of insight on how we as stakeholders can ensure gender equality factors into the Sustainable Development Agenda.
