Rakhi Making Competition
Teaching children about festivals fosters cultural understanding, empathy, and a sense of unity in them. It is through festivals that they learn about diverse celebrations, respect for different traditions, the richness of their own culture, and appreciation of the global society.
Raksha Bandhan is one such festival that instills the values of a strong bond between siblings, the values of love, protection, and mutual respect. On Monday 28th August 23, as part of Raksha Bandhan celebrations, the foundation stage of Ahlcon International School organized an Inter-Class Rakhi Making Competition for classes in Nursery and Prep.
The atmosphere buzzed with enthusiasm as students enthusiastically participated in the competition. They displayed creativity and imagination, employing a variety of materials like beads, threads, ribbons, and even recycled items to craft their exquisite Rakhis. The theme of the event revolved around fostering eco-friendly practices and encouraging students to create Rakhis using sustainable materials.
The judges had a challenging task as they assessed the Rakhi’s on creativity, innovation, and adherence to the theme. The winners were awarded the certificates and they were appreciated for their efforts in bringing an eco-friendly twist to a traditional celebration.
Headmistress, Ms. Pooja Shandilya was amazed to see the efforts and spectrum of creativity in the beautiful Rakhi’s made by the budding Ahlconites.
Through this competition, children not only got a chance to celebrate the spirit of familial affection but it also promoted artistic expression, cultural awareness, and environmental consciousness among students. The success of the competition was a testament to the school’s vision of holistic education and nurturing well-rounded individuals who are deeply connected to their heritage while embracing the changing world.
