Jal Itihaas-The Water Heritage Classroom

On March 22, 2024, Ahlcon International School’s Middle Stage delegation was honoured as water warriors at the India International Centre, concluding their participation in the JAL ITIHAAS Heritage Classroom Project. This collaborative initiative, with the National Water Mission and Ministry of JAL SHAKTI, also awarded the school the Blue School Certificate. Throughout the project, students engaged in activities promoting water conservation. In Class VIII Social Science, they participated in a debate on the impact of colonial education.

In the “JAL ITIHAAS – The Water Heritage Classroom” project, Class VIII students had two sessions. In the first, titled “Water and I,” they wore water-colored T-shirts and engaged in Matka activities, wrote poetry, and selected “Paani ke Pehredar.” In the second session, they created water conservation slogans and conducted workbook activities to raise awareness.

In Class VII Social Science, students explored the “Water” chapter in Geography through the “My Little Terrarium” activity, fostering creativity with materials like biscuit crumbs and chocolate.

In Class VIII Social Science Geography, students conducted the “Sawal hi Sawal” activity, designing questionnaires about water-related practices and traditions, interviewing family members, neighbors, and school community members, gaining insights into water’s significance and preservation efforts.

On February 6, 2024, Class VIII students engaged in an interaction session with Ms. Smita and her team as part of the JAL ITIHAAS – The Water Heritage Classroom project. They participated in a comprehensive questionnaire and showcased talents through activities like Wall Art and Slogan Writing. This deepened their understanding of water history and inspired proactive measures to prevent wastage, fostering heightened awareness and responsibility towards water conservation.

Collectively, these sessions served to instill a heightened sense of awareness and responsibility towards water conservation among the students, heralding a positive transformation in their attitudes and behaviours.
