In a collaborative initiative aimed at fostering educational excellence, the British Council and the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) have joined together to spearhead transformative programs and resources for the holistic development of schools across India. To take forward this collaboration and build a wide range of educational tools and resources they hosted the Schools Education Conference on Furthering Innovation and Sustainable Education in Schools on 14th and 15th December.
The conference, inaugurated by Sanjay Kumar, Secretary, Department of School Education & Literacy, aimed at exploring innovative teaching methodologies for schools across India. Allison Barret, Country Director, British Council set the tone by highlighting the critical need for creative solutions and collaborative measures to address climate change. While Ms. Nidhi Chhibber, Chairperson CBSE, emphasized the need to lay a strong foundation for students, inspiring them to become responsible citizens through education.
This conference was attended by representatives, policymakers, and leaders from various educational bodies, including the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA), National Curriculum Framework Committee (NCF) and school boards from across the country. It focused on equipping school leaders and practitioners with valuable resources to enhance teaching, learning, and assessment.
It was a privilege for a team of teachers from Ahlcon International School to proudly participate in this transformative two-day conference organized by CBSE in collaboration with the British Council. AIS consistently values and seizes opportunities for continuous professional development, fostering a culture that ensures our educators stay abreast of innovative teaching methodologies and advancements in education and this conference provided the teachers with a perfect platform to further enrich their skills and knowledge.
The conference included master classes conducted by renowned organizations such as the Jane Goodall Foundation, Premier League, Micro: Bit Foundation, Alpha Plus, Cambridge University Press and Assessments (CUPA), and CBSE, providing invaluable insights and expertise to educators. Cambridge University Press and Assessment shared insights from a scoping study, offering recommendations to strengthen pedagogy and assessment for practical teaching in classes 5-10. The study analyzed the teaching and learning of science, math, social science, and languages in CBSE schools, emphasizing the importance of hands-on practical and fieldwork activities in experiential learning.
Overall, this conference served as a significant resource for our teachers, offering practical tools and strategies to enhance their teaching methodologies and contribute to the overall advancement of education across the globe.
