FENCING INTRODUCTORY WORKSHOP

The recent Fencing Introductory Workshop, organized by the school on February 16, 2024, proved to be a highly engaging and educational experience for students in classes III to V. This event, facilitated by professional fencing instructors, aimed to introduce participants to the art and sport of fencing, providing them with a solid foundation in its basics, skills, and historical context.

Led by experienced fencing instructors, the workshop began with comprehensive demonstrations of proper fencing techniques, stances, and footwork. The emphasis on quality instruction ensured that students received a solid introduction to the sport. Essential fencing equipment, such as foils, masks, and jackets, was introduced, with instructors explaining their purposes and proper usage, allowing students to become familiar with the tools of the trade.

Covering fundamental techniques like the lunge, parry, and riposte, the workshop offered students the chance to practice these moves under the guidance of instructors. Interactive sessions, including friendly sparring matches, enhanced the learning experience, enabling students to apply their newly acquired skills and develop a deeper appreciation for fencing.

The workshop also addressed the rules and etiquette of fencing, highlighting the values of sportsmanship, respect, and fair play. Instilling these principles in participants was a key focus, emphasizing the importance of understanding the code of conduct in fencing.

The event concluded with a question-and-answer session, providing students with the opportunity to seek clarification on various aspects of fencing. The resounding success of the Fencing Introductory Workshop was evident, offering not only valuable insights into fencing techniques but also promoting teamwork, discipline, and physical fitness. As the school continues to explore opportunities for sports and extracurricular activities, this workshop stands out as a memorable and enriching experience for all participants.

Following the practical sessions, Mr. Puneet Duggal, Vice-Principal, addressed the audience, motivating the children to adopt a healthy lifestyle. Ms. Kavita Shah, Head of the Preparatory Section, expressed appreciation for the fencing professionals who conducted the workshop, highlighting its valuable points. Mr. Satyendra Yadav, Head of the Physical Education Department, played a crucial role in supporting the workshop. The event concluded with a vote of thanks from Ms. Sangeeta Sahni, HOD of Physical Education in the preparatory section.
