English Language Day Assembly Report
“English is not just a language; it’s a medium for communication, a tool for understanding, and a bridge for connecting cultures.”
On 19th April 2024, The English Language Day assembly was held at Ahlcon Internationl School, by Preparatory Stage, to celebrate the importance of the English language in our lives and to promote linguistic and cultural diversity. The event aimed to foster a deeper appreciation for the language among students and to encourage them to use it effectively, in their academic and personal lives.
The assembly began with gratitude to the almighty followed by a warm welcome of the school heads, teachers and students. The significance of English Language Day and its role in connecting people from different cultures and backgrounds was highlighted. Students were also apprised of Fun Facts about the Language.
A humorous English poem, ‘Muddlehead’ by Ogden Nash was recited, showcasing the beauty and diversity of the language and captivating the audience with its humour, eloquence and imagery.
Further, a melodious song followed by a short skit was presented by the students of grade IV & V. The skit ‘Bard Banter – Shakespeare Meets LSRW’ emphasized the importance of LSRW skills, wherein Shakespeare and LSRW skills conquered the Language stage with their dialogues and costumes.
A fun filled session of Tongue Twisters encouraged active participation and friendly competition among the students, reinforcing proper pronunciation and fluency.
Last but not the least, was the energetic dance performance ‘Fable Footsteps’, where characters like Cindrella, Snow White etc. stepped out of the books and stepped on the stage and danced their heart out.
The assembly concluded with appreciating remarks from the Principal, Mr. Sanjay Yadav, Vice Principal, Mr. Puneet Duggal and Headmistress, Ms. Kavita Shah, each appreciating the efforts of the English Department and the participants. They encouraged the students to continue embracing the English Language and exploring its richness through reading, writing and conversation.
Overall, the English Language Day assembly was a resounding success, inspiring students to value and celebrate the diversity of language while recognizing the universal power of English in today’s interconnected world. The event served as a reminder of the importance of linguistic proficiency and cultural awareness in fostering global understanding and cooperation.
