CLASS ASSEMBLY – UN DAY & SOCIAL EMOTIONAL LEARNING

“Peace starts within—through kindness, empathy, and understanding. When we treat others with respect and care, we help build a more peaceful world around us.”

Class 6B conducted an insightful assembly on 22nd October 2024, centered around the theme of United Nations Day and Social-Emotional Learning (SEL). The assembly highlighted the significance of the United Nations’ efforts in promoting global peace and security, while also emphasizing the importance of personal development through SEL. The students effectively communicated the critical role of global awareness, empathy, and compassion in fostering a harmonious and peaceful society.

The assembly focused on three key objectives:

– To raise awareness about the United Nations’ role in promoting global peace, development, and cooperation.

– To educate students on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and their individual contributions towards achieving them.

– To highlight the importance of Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) in cultivating compassion, empathy, and responsible citizenship.

The assembly began with a video highlighting the role of the United Nations in promoting peace, human rights, and global cooperation. A talk on the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) followed, emphasizing the importance of addressing global challenges such as poverty and climate change. The students then performed a song about unity and peace, reinforcing the UN’s mission. A skit on compassion showcased how empathy and kindness can create inclusive communities, linking SEL to everyday experiences. Adding vibrancy to the event, students also performed a captivating dance, symbolizing the harmony and collaboration essential for a peaceful world.

The assembly concluded with a book review, outlined how the book connects young readers to global issues and encourages them to take action, reflecting the assembly’s themes of both UN Day and SEL.

The assembly successfully achieved its objective of instilling a sense of global awareness and empathy in students. The assembly concluded with words of encouragement from the Principal, reminding students to be mindful of their actions and to always strive to make a positive impact in the world.
